Today, the Letter for the Ratification of the Escazú Agreement was sent to various government representatives, signed by 157 civil society organizations, including Ruptura.
The Escazú Agreement, discussed in 2018 in Costa Rica, is the first international treaty to include provisions on human rights defenders in environmental matters. To find out more about the agreement, check out our publication "The importance of the Escazú Agreement for the protection of environmental activists" by our director Eduardo Schneider Lersch.
Still on the subject of the Escazú Agreement, our directors highlighted its importance for the protection of the right of access to information and environmental justice in the written observations submitted by International Law Without Frontiers (DIsF) and accepted by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.
